I am outraged that Governor Wolf is politicizing the tree of life massacre as an excuse to put an end to more gun control.
One of the proposals that Wolf is pushing forward are Universal Background Checks (UBCs).
UBCs would end all private arms sales in Pennsylvania by forcing all arms sales to go through a licensed dealer.
That means you couldn’t sell your hunting rifle to your neighbor on their porch.
UBCs are ineffective in preventing mass shootings. For example, both the El Paso and Dayton mass shooters passed a background check. The police also agree.
In 2013, the largest survey of police officers conducted by Police One showed that 80% of police officers believed UBCs were ineffective at stopping criminals. But every time a mass shooting takes place, UBCs are pushed by anti-weapon politicians.
Additionally, the research exposes the effectiveness of UBC.
UC Davis studied California UBC law over a 10-year period and found no population changes in gun kill or suicide rates after it was passed.
After all, UBCs are dangerous to our Second Amendment rights and the gateway to gun confiscation. Without a registration system, UBCs are ineffective in tracing firearms.
Therefore, if UBCs are passed, the next step is to pass weapons registration, which inevitably leads to seizure.
There have already been cases of weapons seizures in the United States.
In particular, New York City began registering long guns in the 1960s and later used the registration list to confiscate the owner’s weapons.
Just say no to UBCs
