JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (CW44 news at 10) – Acting US Attorney Karin Hoppmann announces the unsealing of an indictment accusing James Gregory Sweat, 60, of Jacksonville of stealing mail from a US Post office worker. If convicted, Sweat faces a maximum sentence of five years in federal prison.
According to the indictment, on Jan.
An indictment is simply a formal charge that a defendant has committed one or more violations of federal criminal law, and each defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
This case was investigated by the US Postal Service – Office of Inspector General. It is being prosecuted by U.S. Assistant Attorney Scot Morris.
