FARGO – Acting US Attorney Nicholas W. Chase announced that US District Court Judge Peter D. Welte has sentenced Harleigh Josette Haugen, 20 years old, Fargo, ND, to 45 months federal prison for conspiracy to robbery and robbery . Chief Justice Welte also sentenced Haugen to 3 years’ supervised release and a special trial of US $ 100.00.
The investigation found that Haugen and Jordan Daniel Kraft, age 21, Fargo, ND, conspired with a group of young men and women from May to June 2019 to steal commercial sex from customers. Haugen, Kraft, and others have posted ads on Skip the Games promoting prostitution with adult women. The defendants attempted to take advantage of a group of commercial sex customers whom they believed would not be ready to go to law enforcement if they were robbed. The defendants arranged to meet the victims in their private homes and in local apartments controlled by the defendants. Using dangerous weapons, the defendants robbed the commercial sex customers through threats of violence and violence, and in some cases the victims were physically assaulted by the defendants prior to the robbery.
“This case and convictions send a strong message that violent crime will not be tolerated in our community,” said Acting US Attorney Nick Chase, “and the US Attorney General will work with our local, state and federal law enforcement partners to aggressively pursue efforts through the Department of Justice’s Project Safe Neighborhood program to reduce violent crime and eliminate brutal criminals from our community. “
“We encourage anyone who falls victim to a crime to report it and allow law enforcement, regardless of the circumstances, to investigate,” said Jamie Holt, acting special envoy for St. Paul HSI. “Individuals involved in violent criminal activity in our communities will be fully prosecuted and brought to justice.”
Several of Haugen’s co-defendants were indicted and pleaded guilty in North Dakota:
• JORDAN DANIEL KRAFT, 21, Fargo, ND: plead guilty of the one-count conspiracy to commit robbery and robbery pending conviction.
• SHELTON LEE MOSEBY, IV, 19 years old, Fargo, ND: plead guilty to harming trade through threats and violence – Hobbs Act robbery, 51 months federal prison followed by 3 years supervised release.
• TEAJAHA SHANETTE LAYSHA GRANDER, age 24, Fargo, ND: plead guilty of harming trade through threats and violence – Hobbs Act robbery, sentenced to 24 months federal prison followed by 3 years supervised release.
• TATYANNA DESHUAN GRANDER, age 21, Fargo, ND: confessing to charges of impairment of trade through threats and violence – Hobbs Act robbery, sentenced to 30 months federal prison followed by 3 years supervised release.
• TEON TYRIK BERRY, age 19, Fargo, ND: confess on charges of impairment of trade through threats and violence – Hobbs Act robbery, sentenced to 57 months in federal prison followed by 3 years supervised release.
• ZACHARY RONZELL MITCHELL, 19, Fargo, ND: plead guilty of harming trade through threats and violence – Hobbs Act robbery, pending conviction.
• JACOBY RASHAWN LEE, age 19, Fargo, ND: plead guilty to threat or violence disorderly trafficking charges – Hobbs Act robbery, sentenced to 84 months in federal prison followed by 3 years supervised release.
This case has been investigated by the Fargo Police Department and the Homeland Security Investigation, and the case has been pursued by the U.S. Attorney’s Office, with U.S. Assistant Attorney Jennifer Puhl being assigned to the case.
