Anupama S Chandran, who recovered her child after a lengthy fight, has announced the next round of her fight.
This protest will begin on December 10th, World Human Rights Day, and will continue until those responsible for the separation from their child are brought to justice. These include her father, Jayachandran, the general secretary of the Kerala State Council for Child Welfare Shiju Khan, and the chairman of the Child Welfare Committee, N Sunanda.
Anupama’s child, who had been given up for adoption by a couple in Andhra Pradesh, was brought back and given to her on November 24th. Even though she got her child back, Anupama said she couldn’t enjoy those moments.
Their fear is mainly caused by speculation about the department-level investigation report prepared by TV Anupama, director of the Department of Women’s and Child Development. “Initially it was said that the report confirmed my allegations and that there was evidence that Shiju Khan had deliberately broken the rules to expedite adoption,” Anupama told reporters at the Thiruvananthapuram Press Club on Friday.
“Now some other reports have surfaced saying that I had voluntarily signed a notarized deed allowing the child to be taken away from me. I’ve cleared this up many times, and still this duck turns up on the end of this notarized document to know it is fake. It says that I visited the notary’s office and gave my signature. How could I if I was never allowed to leave my house during my pregnancy, “said Anupama.
She wants this mysterious veil to be removed from the report. “The government should publish the report. It is not a secret document. People need to know. All fake reports will stop once the official document is published,” she said.
She said she spoke extensively with the director (TV Anupama) about the agony she suffered at home. “I thought they would at least recommend some action under the Domestic Violence Act,” Anupama said.
She said there was no end to the slander against her partner (Ajith) either. “It continues unabated. All of this is driving us into crisis,” said Anupama.
She also doubted whether the government would take disciplinary action against Shiju Khan and Sunanda. “The minister (Veena George) herself said that the government had not yet reviewed the report (TV Anupamas), but CPM District Secretary Anavur Nagappan had put on record that the CWC and KSCCW had done nothing wrong,” Anupama said. “Even the chief minister didn’t bother to answer,” she said.
Anupama said she would contact the center if the Kerala government refuses to take action against the defendants.
