Wichita business owner indicted on tax fraud

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – The United States Attorney’s Office has charged a 38-year-old Wichita man with 17 cases of non-payment of wage tax.

According to documents, Jesus Perez-Aguayo served as the owner, operator and president of two companies, JLP Construction and JP Remodeling. Between 2015 and 2019, Perez-Aguayo is accused of collecting hundreds of thousands of dollars in payroll taxes for employees but not reporting them to the Internal Revenue Service.

The IRS is investigating the case. Any non-payment of income tax is punished with a prison sentence of up to five years.
