July 21 – Jenner & Block announced Wednesday that they have welcomed partner Brandon Fox back to the firm after serving two years as chief of crime at the US Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles.
During his federal service, Fox helped oversee the $ 3 billion agreement Wells Fargo signed with the United States in February 2020 to clear up criminal and civil investigations into fraudulent sales practices, and admitted employees were involved in a fake scandal Pressing accounts.
Also during Fox’s tenure, Los Angeles City Councilor Jose Huizar was arrested last June on charges of extortion and charged with running his office as a “criminal money-making company” by taking bribes from Chinese property developers and others in exchange for political issues Has accepted influence.
Fox joins Jenner as Managing Partner of the Los Angeles office, succeeding Michael McNamara. McNamara, who has headed the Los Angeles office since 2018, will continue to serve on Jenner’s policy committee, the company said.
In discussing his return, Fox cited Jenner’s pro bono work and commitment to expanding his presence in California. “The company’s values are important to me,” he said.
Fox hopes to expand the firm’s presence in Los Angeles, where Jenner first opened an office in 2009. The firm now has around 40 lawyers in LA, Fox said.
Fox’s arrival comes at a “crucial time” for the company, Jenner’s co-managing directors Katya Jestin and Randy Mehrberg said in a statement. Jenner opened its sixth US office in San Francisco in March. The office is headed by Reid Schar, a former Chicago attorney who participated in the criminal case against former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich.
“Along with Reid Schar, who runs our new San Francisco office, we have two highly respected attorneys and former federal attorneys running our west coast offices,” said Jestin and Mehrberg.
Fox will also oversee Jenner’s investigative, compliance and defense practice, the firm said. With the Biden administration in charge of the Justice Department, Fox anticipates an increase in corporate law enforcement and investigations.
“I think clients are looking for someone who will bring credibility to the table in dealing with the department, so the department knows there is a real defense and we’re taking it forward,” said Fox.
