Texas High Court Won’t Hear Cotton Insurance Tax Case

Law360 (June 18, 2021, 9:43 p.m. EDT) – The Texas Supreme Court said Friday it will not hear a case about the constitutionality of the state’s application of the insurance tax for excess line insurance to cotton stored in warehouses.

Insurance agency Rekerdres & Sons attempted to overturn the lawsuit and appeal against appeals court rulings that approved more than $ 82,000 in taxes levied by the Texas Auditing Agency for cotton in Lone Star State warehouses.
