CAIRO, July 18 (Reuters) – A spokesman for the Taliban’s political bureau told Al Jazeera TV on Sunday that the group had not proposed a ceasefire in Afghanistan during the Doha talks.
“We did not make a proposal for a three-month ceasefire in the Doha talks,” the spokesman told the Qatar-based broadcaster.
The meetings with the Afghan government delegation will continue in the future and the talks are “a good opportunity to get closer”. (Reporting by Omar Fahmy; writing by Nayera Abdallah; editing by Peter Cooney)
