AOC threatens to “refuel” infrastructure law without reforms
Speak to US representatives at a virtual town hall event Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez made known the intentions of the Progressive Caucus, that if, in addition to the cross-party infrastructure law, there is not a law of reconciliation, which is only intended for the democrats, the latter will be “refueled”. Given the Democrats’ small lead in the House of Representatives, the threat is justified.
The current proposal for the reconciliation law of the Democratic Group approx would include all of President Biden’s major proposals from the American Families Plan including extending child tax credit changes beyond 2021. There would also be immigration reform and action against climate change. If any of these proposals were watered down, it would also jeopardize bipartisan law.
“If you approve our Law of Atonement, we’ll approve your bipartisan law.” Ocasio-Cortez said. “And if they try to abolish immigration reform, if they try to provide childcare, climate protection, etc.
