Cruz, Stefanik demand Biden admin enforce immigration laws as new caravan embarks for border

The Five – Thursday November 4th

In today’s episode, “The Five” track Biden’s trillion dollar spending fiasco following election losses. Plus, GOP wins big as parents reject critical racial theory in the classroom.

Republican Senator Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and Rep. Elise Stefanik, RN.Y., sent a letter to the Biden government urging officials to enforce federal immigration law to fight a caravan of migrants that was approaching the southern border.

“We are deeply concerned about what the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is doing to prevent a similar situation on our southern border, especially when the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) field workers are already overworked, understaffed and underserved by the influx of Migrants this year, “wrote Cruz, Stefanik and over a dozen other Republicans in a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

“Also, this caravan comes just weeks after ten thousand migrants flooded Del Rio, Texas, overpowered border guards, and later gained entry into the United States,” the letter added. “While the DHS strategy published on September 18, 2021 was that migrants who cannot be expelled under Title 42 and have no legal basis to remain will be placed on expedited deportation,” Del Rio did not, in fact, stated high-ranking officials Executive officials said that migrants have been released to the United States on “very, very large numbers”. We believe this has given the youngest caravan an incentive to travel to the United States. “

In the letter, the Republicans called on the Biden administration to “enforce our immigration laws like any other law and ensure that migrants in this caravan with non-existent asylum applications are not released to the United States.”

A huge migrant caravan, organized by QR code, left the city of Huehuetán in southern Mexico on the third day of its long hike towards the US southern border at the end of October.

The caravan, which consists of thousands of mostly Central Americans, South Americans and Haitians, is the largest and best organized of its kind this year. Participants will register from October 15th using a QR code.

HONDURAN ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT ON CHARGE OF MURDER CARRIED US FALSE TO Claim Unaccompanied Minor: REPORT

Video footage captured by Fox News showed thousands of migrants, including young children, being pushed in strollers and walking north about 20 miles north of Tapachula. One migrant carried a large wooden cross on the front of the trailer, while others carried American flags and plaques with President Biden’s name on it.

“The caravan is like a magnet, it absorbs people, migrants, who have been in the cities [of coastal Chiapas] join, “said Irineo Mújica, an immigration activist for People Without Borders.

One of them was Bayron Zavala, a Nicaraguan migrant who, when he heard the caravan was slowly advancing, got on a bicycle and caught up with them in Huixtla. He said he would go with them “as far as God gives us the strength … further to the United States if possible.”

The migrants passed a customs, immigration and military checkpoint without any problems, where the authorities usually confiscate drugs and search for people smugglers.

While still significantly smaller than caravans in 2018 and 2019, this is the largest group to have been moving through southern Mexico since the pandemic began early last year. A caravan left Honduras in January, but the authorities in Guatemala disbanded it.

Other groups that have left Tapachula this year have been in the hundreds. All of them were broken up by Mexican authorities, sometimes with excessive force. These groups were mainly composed of Haitian migrants. This caravan is mostly made up of Central Americans.

The National Guard has not tried to intervene since it tried to keep the migrants out of Tapachula on Saturday. A scuffle broke out and a child was injured.

Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard said on Monday that the government would act “prudently” and respect the law and human rights.

Mexico has dispatched thousands of soldiers, police and immigration officers to the south, and no major groups from the states bordering Guatemala have made it in recent years.
