MOSCOW, December 6 (Reuters) – Apple (AAPL.O) has initiated legal proceedings against Russia’s antimonopoly regulator in a dispute over alternative payment options on its App Store platform, the RIA news agency reported on Sunday, citing court files.
Russia initiated antitrust proceedings against Apple at the end of October, accusing it of not allowing app developers to inform customers about alternative payment options when using its app store. Apple could expect a fine based on its earnings in Russia if found guilty. Continue reading
In documents released on December 1, the Moscow Arbitration Court listed Apple as a plaintiff and Russia’s Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) as a defendant in “economic disputes over administrative legal relationships.”

Apple, which did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment, requested additional documents be attached to the case on Dec. 2, RIA reported.
Forbes Russia quoted a FAS representative as saying the process related to a warning it issued on Aug. 30 about Apple’s alleged failure to notify users that they could pay for purchases outside the app store .
The FAS did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Apple faced a denial of its App Store rules in the US in September when a federal judge issued a ruling that forced the company to allow developers to send their users to other payment systems. Continue reading
