Scott Kurashige, Chairman of the Institute for Comparative Racial and Ethnic Studies. “However, they understood that we need to change the narrative of who we are and how we relate to one another, both in our local communities and as a nation.”

The Nasher Sculpture Center announced the next exhibition for Nasher Public at the Nasher Store Gallery. “Twist” from Cameron Schoepp ’87, Art professor, can be seen until July 18th. Schoepp has been one of the leading artistic personalities in North Texas for over three decades. He obtained his MFA in sculpture from the TCU, where he has been teaching since 2003. Schoepp’s work has been shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions across Texas as well as in Chicago, New York, and Hiroshima, Japan.

A crowd of Juneteenth celebrations gathered on Evans Avenue Plaza on the South Side for activist Opal Lee, the “grandmother of Juneteenth,” to take a 2.5 mile walk towards downtown. Max Kroglich, Author and Associate Professor of History at TCU, said the introduction of Juneteenth as a federal holiday is testament to Lee, her family, and the many advocates who kept the Juneteenth candle burning for more than 150 years.
