Gubernatorial News Release: Governor Ige Appoints Holly TM Shikada to succeed Clare Connors as Attorney General

HONOLULU – Governor David Ige has appointed Holly TM Shikada as Attorney General for the State of Hawaii. Shikada will succeed Clare Connors, who was confirmed by the US Senate on December 7th as US attorney for the district of Hawaii. Connors’ resignation will take effect at the end of the day on Friday, December 10th.
Shikada has been the first deputy since March of this year. She is a 30-year veteran in the Attorney General’s department after serving 18 years as the supervising assistant attorney general for the education department. She previously headed a unit within the department focused on ensuring compliance with a class action lawsuit known as the Felix Consent Decree. Shikada also served in the Family Law section of the division and began her legal career in a private practice with the law firm Fujiyama Duffy & Fujiyama.
Holly’s experience and expertise enables her to take on this vital role non-stop, whether as representing the state in legal proceedings, directing investigations, advising on legal matters or in other roles as the state’s chief judicial and law enforcement officer. “Said Governor Ige.

Shikada attended the University of Hawai’i, Manoa, where she earned a BA in Accounting and a Law Degree from the William S. Richardson School of Law.
Their appointment requires confirmation by the Senate.
Governor Ige also expressed his deep appreciation to Clare Connors for her outstanding leadership. “I wish Clare all the best as she continues her civil service in her new role. I know we will continue to work together on behalf of the people of the state of Hawaii, ”said Governor Ige.
